Part 2: South Rim to the North Rim, Grand Canyon

The next morning, I walked up to the Hopi House,
another building designed by Mary Colter. Built
acrosss from the famous El Toval Hotel, it was
used as store for tourists to see and buy Indian goods.

Here was a man tracking condors.

Some mountain goats on cliff edges!

A chat (& hug!) with Ron, the man who runs the mule rides.

We set off to the far eastern side of the South Rim
where another Mary Colter building, the Watchtower,
was erected.

Hopi designs inside the Watchtower.

I loved this!! A baby(?) jay drinking from
this drinking fountain!

After many many miles, we crossed the Colorado way upstream from the Grand Canyon. This is a view looking towards Lees Ferry, where the rafting trips put in the water.

Nina and Margaret on the Navaho Bridge.

Arrived at the North Rim, found our cabins,
saw the sunset and went on a night walk with
a ranger who was very unprepared.
We did learn to see in the dark!

Here's a statue of Bridie (sp?) the
burro, in the lodge of the North Rim.

Above: Scary walkway out from the lodge!

Left: North Rim view.

Angel's Triangle at Cape Royal.

Lots of beautiful wild flowers.

Got carried away with the flowers!
